HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Virginia Capitol Building.
Virginia’s original colonial Capitol buildings were destroyed. A 1930s reconstruction within Colonial Williamsburg represents the earlier structure using documentary and archaeological evidence, with furnished legislative chambers, courtrooms, offices, architectural details, and interpreted grounds rather than surviving original eighteenth-century fabric.
