About the World War I
World War I (1914–1918) was a global conflict between the Allied powers and the Central Powers, triggered by a Balkan crisis amid longstanding rivalries and military alliances. Industrial warfare, mass mobilization, and fighting across multiple fronts caused immense destruction. Allied victory contributed to the collapse of major empires and a series of settlements that redrew borders and created new states.
Geography of the World War I
The principal European fronts stretched through France and Belgium in the west and across eastern Europe between the Baltic and Black seas. Other major theaters included the Italian Alps, the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Ottoman Middle East, and Gallipoli. Campaigns also took place in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, while naval warfare extended across major oceans. Trenches, mountain barriers, railway networks, and control of sea routes shaped the conflict's different theaters.
