Israel Putnam’s burial place survives beneath a prominent nineteenth-century monument in the South Cemetery at Brooklyn, Connecticut. The maintained sculptural memorial, inscriptions, grave plot, and surrounding historic burial ground provide the principal visible commemoration of the Revolutionary general and his resting place.
