This site is free and open to the public. A stone parking lot marks the trailhead for a 0.75-mile loop trail. There are no restrooms or drinking water available on site.

About Battle of Hanging Rock Marker
At Hanging Rock on August 6, 1780, Patriot militia under Thomas Sumter attacked a British outpost. The Americans inflicted heavy losses and captured supplies but withdrew amid disorder. The action strengthened backcountry resistance shortly before the disastrous Battle of Camden.
