Anna Rebecca Hall Roosevelt was Eleanor Roosevelt’s mother. A New York socialite, she married Elliott Roosevelt in 1883 and had three children.

She was the eldest child of Valentine Gill Hall and Mary Livingston Ludlow Hall and took on family responsibilities after her father’s death.

DEATH
She died of diphtheria on December 7, 1892, following an operation, according to the National Park Service and Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library.
