About Young's Store

F. W. Young, a former post sutler, built this store and home in 1876 at a ford over Comanche Creek near Fort Stockton. The property included a wagon yard and corrals in the rear to serve travelers and freight wagons crossing the creek. It functioned as a supply point along a route through this part of West Texas.
