About Washington Methodist Church
The Washington Methodist Church served the Methodist community of Washington, Texas, a Brazos River town that briefly served as the capital of the Republic of Texas in 1836. The congregation organized during the nineteenth century as the town settled into a farming community after the capital moved elsewhere. Its building anchored local religious life for area Methodist families.
