HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Villa Romana & Antiquarium.
The site preserves the mosaic floors and foundation walls of a late Roman peristyle villa, displayed under protective cover, along with finds from the site housed in the adjoining Antiquarium. It is managed by the Italian Ministry of Culture through its regional archaeological superintendency. The villa and museum are open to the public on a ticketed basis.
About Villa Romana & Antiquarium
The Roman Villa at Desenzano del Garda was built as a luxurious countryside residence for a wealthy family in the fourth century CE. It featured extensive floor mosaics depicting mythological and hunting scenes across its residential and thermal quarters. It ranked among the largest and most richly decorated Roman villas in northern Italy.
