HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Villa Farnesina.
The site preserves the Renaissance villa largely intact, including its Loggia of Galatea and Loggia of Psyche decorated with frescoes by Raphael and his workshop, along with other painted rooms and a garden. It is owned and managed by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei as a museum. The villa is open to the public on a ticketed basis.
About Villa Farnesina
Villa Farnesina was built between 1506 and 1510 by architect Baldassare Peruzzi for the wealthy banker Agostino Chigi as a suburban pleasure villa outside Rome's walls. Chigi commissioned frescoes from Raphael and other leading artists to decorate its loggias and interiors. The Farnese family later acquired the villa, giving it the name it still carries.
