HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Ulster American Folk Park.
The park combines an original nineteenth-century emigrant homestead and outbuildings with other historic buildings relocated from elsewhere in Ulster and reconstructed structures representing early American settlement, arranged around an indoor exhibition hall. It is administered by National Museums Northern Ireland. The park is open to the public on a ticketed, seasonal basis.
About Ulster American Folk Park
The Ulster American Folk Park was established in the twentieth century as an open-air museum built around the homestead of the Mellon family near Omagh, County Tyrone. It was created to commemorate the emigration of Ulster people to America during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The park reconstructed period buildings from both Ulster and America to illustrate the emigrant experience.
