Public access is generally open, as the town is a living, freely accessible urban center with some sites, such as the castle, open to visitors.
About Trujillo Historic Town
Trujillo developed as a fortified town under Muslim rule following the eighth century Umayyad conquest of Iberia, centered on a hilltop castle. It passed to Christian control during the Reconquista in the thirteenth century and grew into a walled town of merchants and nobility. Trujillo later became known as the birthplace of Francisco Pizarro.
