HISTORIC PRESERVATION at The Hurlers.
The Hurlers survive as three stone circles of granite pillars set in a line on open moorland, with several stones re-erected during twentieth century excavations and others now fallen or missing from their original positions. The site is a scheduled monument maintained by the Cornwall Heritage Trust. It lies in open ground on Bodmin Moor and is freely accessible to visitors at all times.
About The Hurlers
The Hurlers were three stone circles erected on Bodmin Moor during the Bronze Age, likely serving a ceremonial or ritual purpose for the surrounding community. Local legend held that the stones were men turned to stone for playing the game of hurling on a Sunday. The circles formed part of a wider prehistoric ceremonial landscape across the moor.
