The sanctuary preserves megalithic foundation walls and stratified remains spanning prehistoric, Phoenician-Punic, and Roman phases of religious use. About Tas-Silġ sanctuary site
Tas-Silg began as a Neolithic megalithic temple around the third millennium BCE, one of Malta's prehistoric sacred sites. Phoenician and Punic settlers later reused the site as a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Astarte, and under Roman rule it became a temple to Juno. Its long sequence of religious use reflects successive waves of Mediterranean settlement.
