About Steinhagen Log Cabin
The Steinhagen Log Cabin was built before 1860 as a home for early settlers in Grimes County, Texas. Its unspliced log walls, along with its doors and window shutters, were hand-hewn by enslaved laborers. The cabin illustrates vernacular building methods used by area settlers and the enslaved craftsmen who built it.
