About St. Peter's Episcopal Church
St. Peter's Episcopal Church was founded among settlers of Austin's colony, and its parish, the fourth oldest in Texas, was organized on May 2, 1848, by missionary Bishop George W. Freeman of Arkansas. The church building was later rebuilt. It was dedicated on June 29, 1965, by Bishop J. M. Richardson.
