About St Patrick's Cathedral (Roman Catholic)
Construction of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Armagh began in 1840 to designs by Thomas Duff and was completed in 1904 after interruptions from famine and funding shortages. Built in the Gothic Revival style, it became the seat of the Catholic Primate of All Ireland. Its construction reflected the resurgence of Catholic church building after Emancipation.
