The building preserves a largely intact Anglo-Saxon church fabric, including narrow doorways, a chancel arch, and carved stone angels, though it was substantially altered after its rediscovery in the nineteenth century, when later accretions enclosing it were removed. It is a Church of England property, designated a Grade I listed building and scheduled ancient monument, cared for by the local parish. The church is open to visitors and is occasionally used for services.

About St Laurence Saxon Church, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire

St Laurence Church at Bradford-on-Avon is a small Anglo-Saxon stone church traditionally linked to Saint Aldhelm, though most scholars date the standing building to the tenth century. Its tall, narrow proportions and blind arcading follow Anglo-Saxon building conventions. It was later put to secular use as a school and cottage before its ancient origins were recognized in the nineteenth century.
