HISTORIC PRESERVATION at St Davids Cathedral.

The cathedral retains its medieval purple sandstone nave, choir, and central tower, along with a distinctive leaning nave arcade caused by historic subsidence, and stands beside the ruined Bishop's Palace. It is administered by the Dean and Chapter of St Davids as a cathedral of the Church in Wales. It remains an active place of worship and is freely open to visitors.

About St Davids Cathedral

St Davids Cathedral was built beginning in 1181 on the site of an earlier monastery said to have been founded by Saint David, patron saint of Wales, in the sixth century. It became a major pilgrimage destination, with two pilgrimages there once considered equal to one to Rome. It served as the seat of the diocese of St Davids.
