Speke Hall retains its black-and-white timber-framed Tudor structure, built around a central courtyard with a great hall, along with later Victorian interiors, oak paneling, period furnishings, and its surrounding gardens and estate. It is owned by the National Trust, which manages the house and grounds as a Grade I listed building. The hall, gardens, and grounds are open to the public on a ticketed basis.
About Speke Hall, Liverpool
The Norris family built Speke Hall in the sixteenth century as a timber-framed manor house near Liverpool, reflecting their status as prominent local gentry. The estate passed to the Beauclerk family and later the Watt family, who used it as a country residence for generations. It became a notable example of Tudor domestic architecture in northwest England.
