The house, studio, and enclosed garden of the painter Joaquín Sorolla survive largely as he left them, together with his personal collection of his own paintings, furnishings, and decorative art acquired during his career. The museum is a national museum administered by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. It is open to the public on a ticketed basis, occupying the artist's own building and grounds.
About Sorolla Museum
Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla had this house and studio built in Madrid in the early twentieth century, living and working there until his death in 1923. The Andalusian-style residence and garden reflected his personal taste and provided the setting for many of his later works. It cemented his standing as a leading figure of Spanish luminist painting.
