About Site of a Munition Factory
This site held a munitions factory operated by the Confederacy from 1861 until 1865, during the Civil War. Workers there manufactured cannon, firearms, and edged weapons, as well as gunpowder, for Confederate armies. The factory formed part of the Confederacy's effort to supply its armies with weapons and ammunition during the war.
