HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Safety Harbor Museum & Cultural Center.

The Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center occupies a modern building housing collections and exhibits on the Tocobaga people and the area's later settlement history, near the site of an earthen temple mound associated with the Tocobaga. It is operated as a municipal museum by the City of Safety Harbor. The museum is open to the public.

About Safety Harbor Museum & Cultural Center

The museum was established in Safety Harbor to preserve the history of the Tampa Bay area, including the Tocobaga people who built ceremonial mounds nearby centuries earlier. Sixteenth-century Spanish explorers associated the area's mineral springs with legends of a fountain of youth. Its exhibits interpreted centuries of Native American and early settler history.
