About Sabbioneta
Sabbioneta was built in the sixteenth century by Vespasiano Gonzaga as a fortified ducal capital, laid out according to Renaissance ideals of rational urban planning. The town included a palace, a theater built on classical models, and star-shaped fortifications enclosing the settlement. It stood as one of the clearest examples of an ideal Renaissance city.
