About Ruins of the Ranch Home of Manuel Musquiz
Manuel Musquiz, a pioneer, built a ranch home here after settling in the area in 1854. Indian raids later forced its abandonment, and the empty buildings served intermittently as a Ranger station between 1880 and 1882 while the region was being cleared of raiders and outlaws. The site reflects the contested frontier of West Texas.
