About Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore
The Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore is the final resting place of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The mausoleum has faced persistent damp and water intrusion. Royal authorities began major restoration work to address the roof, drainage, and windows.
History happened here at Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore
Queen Victoria commissioned the mausoleum after Prince Albert’s death in 1861. She laid its foundation stone in March 1862, and the building was consecrated that December.
Victoria remained involved in its decoration and visited it during her widowhood. She was laid beside Albert after her death in 1901.
