Rose Hall Great House survives as a restored Georgian plantation mansion, with its exterior walls and structure largely original though the interior has undergone significant restoration and refurnishing after a long period of ruin and neglect. It is privately owned and operated as a museum and hotel property. The house is open to the public on a ticketed, guided-tour basis.
About Rose Hall Great House
Rose Hall Great House was built in the 1770s as the residence of a wealthy Jamaican sugar plantation owner. It is popularly linked to the legend of Annie Palmer, a supposedly murderous mistress, though the tale is largely folklore rather than documented history. The house exemplified the Georgian plantation architecture and slave-based sugar economy of colonial Jamaica.
