About Rosanna Ward Britton Grimes and Jesse Grimes
This was the home of Jesse Grimes (1788-1866) and his wife Rosanna Ward Britton Grimes (1803-1871). Jesse Grimes signed the Texas Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Republic of Texas, later serving in the Congress of the Republic and as a state senator. Grimes County was named in his honor.
