The site is in public ownership, managed by municipal and regional cultural heritage authorities. It is freely accessible as an open-air archaeological area.

About Roman Theatre, Trieste

The Roman theater at Trieste was built in the first century CE as a public venue for dramatic and civic performances. Carved partly into the hillside below the city's acropolis, it could seat several thousand spectators from the Roman colony of Tergeste. It served the community for centuries before falling out of use as the city contracted in late antiquity.
