HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Roman Theatre of Sagunto.

The site preserves the cavea, orchestra, and portions of the stage building of the Roman theater cut into the hillside below Sagunto's castle, restored and partly reconstructed in modern times using new stone alongside surviving ancient fabric. It is a scheduled national monument managed by the regional government of the Valencian Community. The theater is open to the public on a ticketed basis and still used for performances.

About Roman Theatre of Sagunto

Romans built the theater at Saguntum in the first century CE, carved into the hillside above the city, as a venue for dramatic and civic performances. It served the Roman colony that grew after the earlier Iberian city was destroyed by Hannibal's forces during the siege of 219 BCE. The theater remained a focus of Saguntum's public life under Roman rule.
