The Robert Toombs House survives as a Greek Revival frame house with much of its original structure, later additions, and period furnishings intact. It is maintained as a Georgia state historic site under the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The house and grounds are open to the public on a ticketed basis, with interior access generally provided through guided tours.

About Robert Toombs House Historic Site

The Robert Toombs House served as the residence of Robert Toombs, a Georgia lawyer and politician who represented the state in the United States Senate before the Civil War. He served the Confederacy as its first secretary of state and as a general. The house, expanded into a Greek Revival mansion, reflected his prominence in Confederate political life.
