About Rev. Robert Crawford
Robert Crawford, born in South Carolina in 1815, fought as a soldier at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, the decisive engagement of the Texas Revolution. He subsequently served as a Methodist minister for the rest of his life. His career linked the state's revolutionary founding to frontier religious institutions in nineteenth century Texas, and he died in 1888.
