HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Red Fort (Al Qasr Al Ahmar).

The fort's mudbrick and stone perimeter walls, towers, and gate survive, though heavily restored following damage sustained in the 1920 Battle of Jahra, with little of the original interior fabric remaining intact. It is maintained by Kuwaiti state heritage authorities as a protected historic and national monument. The fort stands in open ground and is freely accessible to visitors.

About Red Fort (Al Qasr Al Ahmar)

The Red Fort, or Qasr Al-Ahmar, in Jahra was built in the late nineteenth century as a fortified mud-brick structure serving Kuwaiti rulers and their garrison. It became famous as the site of the Battle of Jahra in 1920, when Kuwaiti defenders held out against Ikhwan raiders from central Arabia. The fort's stand became a symbol of Kuwaiti resistance.
