About Ragusa Ibla
Ragusa Ibla occupied a hilltop site inhabited since prehistoric times, likely by the pre-Greek Sicel people, and later grew into an ancient town under Greek and then Roman influence. Devastated by the earthquake of 1693, it was rebuilt as a dense Baroque town on its old medieval street plan. It represented centuries of continuous settlement in southeastern Sicily.
