HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Qal'at al-Bahrain (Bahrain Fort).

Qal'at al-Bahrain preserves multiple stratified layers of fortification walls, a restored Portuguese-era fort structure, and extensive excavated foundations of earlier settlements, along with an on-site museum displaying recovered artifacts. It is managed by Bahrain's Ministry of Culture and is inscribed as a World Heritage Site. The site and museum are open to the public on a ticketed basis.

About Qal'at al-Bahrain (Bahrain Fort)

Qal'at al-Bahrain occupied a tell settled from around 2300 BCE, serving as capital of the ancient Dilmun civilization and a trading port linking Mesopotamia with the Indus Valley. The site was later reused by Kassite, Islamic, and Portuguese occupants, who built the fort atop the mound. It documented over four thousand years of settlement in the Gulf.
