About Pyramids of Güímar
The stepped stone structures at Güímar on Tenerife were most likely built as agricultural terraces and walls by local farmers in the nineteenth century. In the twentieth century, explorer Thor Heyerdahl promoted a disputed theory linking them to Guanche or transoceanic pyramid-building traditions, though most archaeologists reject this. The site illustrates Canarian farming practice.
