About Presidio County Courthouse

The Presidio County Courthouse was built in 1886 in Marfa, the county's third seat of justice after Fort Leaton and Fort Davis had served earlier. Constructed of native stone and brick made locally, it was topped by a large dome visible for miles across the Big Bend region. It symbolized the establishment of stable county government on the Texas frontier.
