About Plantersville Baptist Church

The church was organized on May 19, 1861, by elders N. T. Byars and George W. Baines as a Baptist congregation serving the Plantersville community. Baines was the great-grandfather of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States. It served as a center of rural religious life in Grimes County through the nineteenth century.
