About Permelia Haynie Home
Permelia Haynie, known as Mrs. John Haynie, received this land from her sister and brother-in-law and built a Victorian house of hand-hewn cedar framed with square nails and wooden pegs. The home served as a family residence in Chappell Hill during the late nineteenth century. After 1900 storm damage, later additions included a bay window and kitchen.
