HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Parco degli Acquedotti (Aqua Claudia & Anio Novus), Rome.

The park preserves long stretches of standing brick and stone arches from several Roman aqueducts, principally the Aqua Claudia and Anio Novus, surviving as ruins amid open parkland. It is managed by Roma Capitale as part of the Parco Regionale dell'Appia Antica. The park is freely accessible to the public as open green space.

About Parco degli Acquedotti (Aqua Claudia & Anio Novus), Rome

Roman engineers built the Aqua Claudia and Anio Novus aqueducts in the first century, under Caligula and Claudius, to carry water into Rome from the Apennine hills. The two channels ran side by side for much of their course, forming one of the largest aqueduct systems in the ancient world. They supplied fountains, baths, and households across Rome.
