About Paisano Pass
According to legend, Paisano Pass took its name from two Spaniards who greeted each other there as countrymen. It entered the historical record when Juan Dominguez de Mendoza camped at the site on January 3, 1684. After 1850 the pass became a recognized point on the Chihuahua Trail, an emigrant road leading west to California.
HISTORY HAPPENED HERE at Paisano Pass
Legend recounts that two Spaniards meeting here greeted each other "Mi Paisano" (My Countryman). First known to history when Juan Dominguez de Mendoza camped here on January 3, 1684.
