About Old Roman Catholic Church
This church building served Alpine's Roman Catholic congregation in the late nineteenth century, when Catholic parishes were being established across the Trans-Pecos region as the railroad and ranching brought settlers to far West Texas. It anchored the sacramental and community life of local Catholic families. The building reflected the spread of institutional religion into a sparsely settled frontier area.
