About Old Rock Store
Merchant John E. Glass built the Old Rock Store in Chappell Hill in 1869 as one of the town's earliest masonry commercial buildings. Its thick sandstone walls and hand-hewn, pegged pine timbers were fitted with doors and shutters secured by square nails. Over time it housed a series of grocers and later served as the Chappell Hill Post Office.
