About Old Post Road - Rodger's Tavern Marker

Rodgers’ Tavern stood beside the principal post road and ferry crossing of the lower Susquehanna. George Washington stopped here during wartime travel beginning in 1781, when roads, ferries, and taverns supported the rapid movement of officers, messages, and troops. The location formed part of the vital overland link between the middle states and the Yorktown campaign.
