The original eighteenth-century Old Manse survives beside Concord’s North Bridge as a furnished historic house museum. The Trustees preserve period rooms, collections, architectural fabric, gardens, fields, boathouse area, and river landscape interpreting generations of ministers, writers, and residents associated with the property.

The Old Manse was built for Reverend William Emerson, who watched the fighting at Concord’s North Bridge from nearby on April 19, 1775. The house preserves the domestic and clerical setting beside the battlefield where Massachusetts militia first fired on retreating British regulars.
