About Old City Cemetery
The Old City Cemetery in Caldwell, Texas, was created in 1840, the same year the town was laid out, when two lots were set aside as a burial and church ground. Town founder Lewis L. Chiles, who died in 1864, is buried there. The oldest legible stone marks Margarette A. King and her infant daughter, who died in 1843.
HISTORY HAPPENED HERE at Old City Cemetery
Created in 1840 (same year Caldwell was laid out) when lots 3 and 12 were made a "Grave Yard and Church lot" forever. Town founder Lewis L. Chiles (d.1864) is buried here.
