The ruins of Nysa include a well-preserved theater, a bouleuterion, the remains of a library, a gymnasium, and a stone bridge built over the ravine that bisects the site, along with foundations of a stadium and a sanctuary to Pluto and Kore. The site is under the protection of Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is open to visitors on a ticketed basis as an archaeological park.
About Nysa
Nysa was a Hellenistic city founded in the third century BCE, likely under the Seleucid dynasty, in ancient Caria near the Meander river. It flourished under Roman rule as a center of learning, home to a noted school of rhetoric and philosophy, and was the birthplace of the geographer Strabo. Its theater and bouleuterion anchored civic life.
