About Nolte-Rooney House
The Nolte-Rooney House was built in 1890 by F.H. Nolte, an early settler, on land in Murphyville, now northwest Alpine, with walls of adobe brick molded on site. Nolte sold the home in 1893 to John Rooney, the county's second sheriff. The house reflected the adobe construction methods used by early settlers of the Big Bend region.
HISTORY HAPPENED HERE at Nolte-Rooney House
Built 1890 by F.H. Nolte, early settler, on land in Murphyville (NW Alpine). The 20 inch walls are made of adobe bricks molded at the building site.
