The Mole Antonelliana tower survives, its spire rebuilt after storm damage, and now houses the collections of the national cinema museum within its soaring central hall. The building and museum are administered by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema foundation. It is open to the public on a ticketed basis, including access to a glass elevator rising through the tower.
About Museo Nazionale del Cinema (Mole Antonelliana)
The architect Alessandro Antonelli began building the Mole Antonelliana in 1863 as a synagogue for Turin's Jewish community. Rising costs led the community to abandon the project, and the city of Turin completed the tower as a civic monument in 1889. It later housed a museum of Italian unification before becoming the National Museum of Cinema.
