HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Musei Reali.
The Musei Reali complex preserves the Royal Palace of Turin's state apartments, armory, and gardens along with the adjoining Palazzo Chiablese and Galleria Sabauda picture gallery, all substantially original Savoy era fabric with later restorations. It is owned by the Italian state and managed by the Ministry of Culture as part of a World Heritage Site recognizing the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy. The complex is open to the public on a ticketed basis.

The Musei Reali complex centers on the Palazzo Reale, built beginning in 1646 as the principal residence of the House of Savoy in Turin. Successive dukes and kings expanded it with galleries, gardens, and an armory reflecting the dynasty's growing power in Piedmont and later Italy. The palace served as a seat of Savoy government until Italian unification.
