HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Mount Stewart House & Gardens.

Mount Stewart preserves its early nineteenth century neoclassical house with much of its original interiors and furnishings intact, together with extensive and internationally renowned gardens largely laid out during the twentieth century. It is owned and managed by the National Trust as one of its principal properties in Northern Ireland. The house and gardens are open to the public on a ticketed, seasonal basis.

About Mount Stewart House & Gardens

Mount Stewart House was built in the eighteenth century as the country seat of the Stewart family, later Marquesses of Londonderry. Its elaborate gardens were largely created in the early twentieth century by Edith, Lady Londonderry, drawing on Italian and Mediterranean design influences. The estate served as a center of Anglo-Irish political and social life.
